How do I tailor my resume to a job description?

Which template should I use for an online application?
Atlas is the free single-column option, with selectable text and standard section headings. Other single-column and visual templates are available on Pro. Visual layouts can include columns or portraits. Follow the employer's file instructions and check the exported file: we do not test or guarantee compatibility with every applicant tracking system.
Can AI suggestions contain mistakes?
Yes. The writer is instructed to use your source experience, and automated checks catch some unsupported claims. They cannot verify every meaning or inference. Compare changes with the original and confirm numbers, skills, responsibilities and dates before sending. Do not add a requirement you cannot support.
Do I need a different resume for every job application?
Use the posting to decide which relevant experience to emphasize. You can reuse your base resume and prepare a separate version for a related job. Tailoring cannot supply missing qualifications or guarantee an interview.
Can I get a matching cover letter?
Yes. The letter uses your resume and the posting. Free accounts receive 1 AI-written letter allowance, then can use a template-based writer built from their resume lines. Pro includes AI generation on further letters. If AI generation fails or its draft fails checks, the app can offer a template-based letter and identifies the substitution. Review and edit either version before sending.
What does the free account include?
You can keep one saved tailored resume at a time and export it in the free Atlas template as PDF or Word. Free resume exports carry a small “Made with Apply Leaf” footer.
